fbfree [-F _framebuffer_]
FBFREE(1)
NAME
fbfree - free resources associated with a frame buffer
On this page
SYNOPSIS
DESCRIPTION
fbfree opens the specified frame buffer and immediately releases any resources associated with it. Its most common use is to shut down an fbserv(1) process and free the shared memory or display resources it holds. Internally the command simply calls the fb_free() routine after opening the frame buffer.
If no frame buffer is given with -F, the default is used, normally taken from the FB_FILE environment variable.
OPTIONS
- -F framebuffer
-
Specify the frame buffer to free. If omitted, the default frame buffer (typically the value of the FB_FILE environment variable) is used.
- -h, -?
-
Print a usage message and exit.
EXAMPLES
fbserv -S 1024 0 /dev/X &
export FB_FILE=:0
pix-fb image.pix
fbfree
Start an fbserv(1) listening on port 0, point FB_FILE at it, display a pix(5) image into it with pix-fb(1), then release the frame buffer and tear down the server with fbfree once you are finished viewing.
