PLOT3-PS(1)
NAME
plot3-ps - convert a plot3 UnixPlot file to PostScript
On this page
SYNOPSIS
DESCRIPTION
plot3-ps reads an extended (3-D) UnixPlot file in plot3(5) format and writes a PostScript rendering of it to standard output. The result is suitable for printing or for embedding as a figure in a larger document, including TeX or LaTeX documents.
The input is read from file.plot3 if given, otherwise from standard input. All plot3(5) line types are supported. If the input contains no space directive, the drawing space defaults to a cube ranging from (0, 0, 0) to (4096, 4096, 4096).
By default the image is drawn at 6.75 inches square. The -s, -w, and -n options (and their uppercase synonyms) override the output dimensions; they are ignored when -e is given, since an encapsulated file is sized in plotting units by its bounding box.
OPTIONS
- -e
-
Produce an Encapsulated PostScript (EPS) file rather than a complete page. Output size options are ignored in this mode.
- -c
-
Center the output on an 8.5 x 11 inch page. Has no effect with -e.
- -s inches, -S inches
-
Set both the output width and height to inches (a square image).
- -w inches, -W inches
-
Set the output width to inches.
- -n inches, -N inches
-
Set the output height to inches.
- -h, -?
-
Print a usage message and exit.
EXAMPLES
mged -c model.g 'set glob_compat_mode 0; B component; saveview /dev/null' 2>/dev/null
plot3-ps -e drawing.plot3 > drawing.eps
Convert a plot3(5) wireframe produced by BRL-CAD into an Encapsulated PostScript figure (drawing.eps) that can be included in a TeX or LaTeX document.
plot3-ps -c -s 7.5 drawing.plot3 > drawing.ps
Produce a full PostScript page with the plot drawn 7.5 inches square and centered on an 8.5 x 11 inch sheet, ready to send to a printer.
