LIBANALYZE(3)

NAME

libanalyze - geometry analysis library for BRL-CAD

On this page

SYNOPSIS

#include <analyze.h>

Link with -lanalyze.

The public interface is organized across the headers included by analyze.h, including analyze/diff.h, analyze/density.h, analyze/grid.h, analyze/heal.h, analyze/info.h, analyze/pnts.h, analyze/contour.h, analyze/polygonize.h, analyze/nirt.h, analyze/voxelize.h, and analyze/worker.h.

DESCRIPTION

LIBANALYZE provides higher-level geometry analysis routines for BRL-CAD models. Unlike the lower-level geometry library (libbg), the algorithms in this library operate on the BRL-CAD constructive solid geometry (CSG) boolean hierarchy and generally rely on solid ray tracing through librt to gather the information they need.

Facilities provided by the library include model differencing, material density and mass property analysis, ray-based gridding and sampling, geometry healing, model information queries, point-cloud generation and processing, manifold dual contouring and voxelization of geometry, and the interactive ray-tracing engine used by the nirt(1) command. A parallel worker interface supports distributing analysis work across multiple threads.

Because these routines build on librt, applications using LIBANALYZE must first prepare a ray-tracing instance (see librt(3)). The complete API, including data structures and function signatures, is documented in the headers noted above and in the Doxygen-generated reference for the LIBANALYZE module.
