AUTOVIEW(nged)

NAME

autoview - Frames objects within the view.

On this page

SYNOPSIS

autoview [-s scale] [object ...]

DESCRIPTION

Resets the view size and the view center such that the framed objects are within the view. With no arguments, all currently displayed objects are framed. If a list of object names (or full paths) is supplied, the view is instead centered and sized to frame only those objects; they need not be displayed. The objects' bounding box is computed directly from the database.

OPTIONS

-s, --scale scale

Set the view scale: the model scale relative to the view size. A smaller value zooms in, a larger value zooms out; the default is 0.5 model scale (so the model occupies half the view).

For backward compatibility a bare leading numeric argument is also accepted as the scale, but only when -s is not given and no object of that name exists (an object with a purely numeric name always takes precedence). Use -s to avoid the ambiguity.

EXAMPLES

Example 1. Reset view size and center so that all displayed objects are within the view.
mged> autoview

The view resets so that all objects displayed can be seen.

Example 2. Frame only the named objects.
mged> autoview engine.r wheel.r

The view is centered and sized to frame just engine.r and wheel.r.

Example 3. Frame the named object using a specific scale.
mged> autoview -s 0.5 engine.r

The view is centered on engine.r and sized using a scale of 0.5.
