BOT_SPLIT(nged)

NAME

bot_split - Split a single BOT primitive, containing disjoint groups of facets, into multiple BOT primitives, one BOT per disjoint group.

On this page

SYNOPSIS

bot_split {bot} [bot2 bot3]...

DESCRIPTION

The bot_split command is deprecated; use bot split for new scripts and interactive workflows. The modern command groups its results under a new combination by default and supports --grp to name that combination; this deprecated command retains its original top-level output behavior.

Split a BOT primitive containing edge-disconnected groups of facets into multiple BOT primitives, one BOT per group. Facets that meet only at a vertex remain separate; facets sharing an edge belong to the same output, including when more than two facets share that edge. For example, if a model contains a single BOT with separate geometry for each of four tires, the command produces one BOT for each tire. The resulting BOTs retain the source mode, orientation, flags, plate thickness and face mode, normals, and texture UV data. Their names are based on the original BOT name with an available sequential suffix. Object attributes are copied to every result, and the result names are listed when the command completes.

EXAMPLES

Example 1. Split one disjoint BoT into separate named pieces.

mged>bot_split tires.bot

Breaks tires.bot into one BoT per disconnected facet island, which is useful when imported mesh data contains several logically separate parts in a single primitive.
