FB2PIX(nged)

NAME

fb2pix - write a framebuffer image to a .pix file

On this page

SYNOPSIS

fb2pix [-h -i -c] [-s squaresize] [-w width] [-n height] [file.pix]

DESCRIPTION

The fb2pix command captures the current framebuffer image from the display manager and writes it out as a raw .pix (RGB) file. If no output file is provided and the standard output is not a terminal, the image data will be written to standard output.

The available options are:

  • -c : Crunch the colormap (apply colormap to pixel values).

  • -i : Inverse mapping (draws the image upside down).

  • -s squaresize : Sets both the output width and height to the specified squaresize.

  • -w width : Sets the output width.

  • -n height : Sets the output height.

  • -h or -? : Prints the command usage and exits.

If size parameters are omitted, it defaults to capturing a 512x512 region.

EXAMPLES

Example 1. Save the framebuffer to a PIX file

mged> fb2pix -s 1024 output.pix

Captures a 1024x1024 region of the active framebuffer and saves it to output.pix.
