FIND_ARB_EDGE(nged)

NAME

find_arb_edge - find and identify an ARB (Arbitrary Polyhedron) edge

On this page

SYNOPSIS

find_arb_edge arb "view_x view_y view_z" ptol

DESCRIPTION

The find_arb_edge command searches an ARB (Arbitrary Polyhedron) primitive and identifies the edge that is closest to a given view coordinate within a specified pick tolerance (ptol).

If successful, the command returns three integers: 1. The numeric ID of the closest edge. 2. The numeric ID of the first vertex (vi1) forming the edge. 3. The numeric ID of the second vertex (vi2) forming the edge.

The arguments are: * arb : The name of the ARB primitive to search. * "view_x view_y view_z" : A single quoted string containing the X, Y, and Z coordinates (in view space) to test against. * ptol : The pick tolerance (a floating point value).

EXAMPLES

Example 1. Identify an ARB edge near a view coordinate

mged> find_arb_edge arb8.s "0 0 1" 0.5

Searches arb8.s for an edge that is within 0.5 units of the view coordinate (0, 0, 1) and returns the edge ID and its two vertex IDs.
