how [-b] object
HOW(nged)
NAME
how - returns how an object is being displayed
On this page
SYNOPSIS
DESCRIPTION
The how command queries the display list to determine how the specified object is currently being drawn in the display.
It returns a numerical code representing the object’s current display mode (e.g., wireframe, shaded, hidden-line, etc.). If the specified object is not currently displayed, the command returns -1.
If the -b ("both") flag is provided, the command returns two space-separated values: the numerical display mode and the object’s floating-point transparency value.
EXAMPLES
mged> how -b my_region.r
Returns output similar to 2 0.5, indicating that my_region.r is drawn with display mode 2 and a transparency of 0.5. If the object was not displayed, it would return -1.
