HUMAN(nged)

NAME

human - generate human models based on parameters like height

On this page

SYNOPSIS

human [options]

DESCRIPTION

The human command generates proportional, articulated human geometric models (comprised of primitives like spheres, truncated general cones, and cylinders) inside the BRL-CAD database.

It calculates body proportions based on target height, percentile, and stance/pose parameters. It can generate a single human or an entire grid-based "army" of human models. By default, it generates a 50th-percentile male standing at 68 inches (5 foot 8 inches) tall named Body.c.

Supported Options:

  • -A : Auto mode. Automatically generates a 50th-percentile human model.

  • -b : Bounding boxes. In addition to the human geometry, generates a set of corresponding bounding boxes (useful for collision and clearance testing).

  • -H height : Specifies the total height of the generated human in inches (default: 68.0).

  • -n name : Specifies the root combination name for the generated human (default: Body.c).

  • -N num : Army generation. Generates a square grid of humans. The total number of humans generated will be num squared (e.g., -N 4 creates an army of 16 humans).

  • -p percent : Specifies the percentile scaling (1 to 99) for the human’s proportions (default: 50).

  • -s pose : Specifies an integer stance/pose ID.

  • -t / -T : Output (-t) or input (-T) a text file containing bounding box measurements.

  • -v / -V : Output (-v) or input (-V) a verbose text file containing all human measurements.

EXAMPLES

Example 1. Generate a custom human model

mged> human -H 72 -n TallGuy.c -p 90

Generates a 90th-percentile human model that is 72 inches (6 feet) tall under the root combination name TallGuy.c.

Example 2. Generate an army of bounding boxes

mged> human -b -N 4 -n Soldier.c

Generates a 4x4 grid (16 total) of default 5-foot-8 humans with their respective bounding boxes, prefixed with the name Soldier.
