JOINT2(nged)

NAME

joint2 - process animation edit commands for joints

On this page

SYNOPSIS

joint2 solid_name selection replace selection_name startx starty startz dirx diry dirz
joint2 solid_name selection translate selection_name dx dy dz

DESCRIPTION

The joint2 command is an experimental interface for processing selection-based operations on joint primitives within a database. Unlike the legacy joint command, joint2 directly targets a specific solid_name and uses a selection querying approach.

It supports the following selection operations:

  • replace selection_name startx starty startz dirx diry dirz : Finds the closest selection on solid_name intersecting the ray defined by the start point and direction vector. The matched selection replaces any existing selection stored under selection_name for that solid.

  • translate selection_name dx dy dz : Translates the components of the existing selection_name on solid_name by the vector (dx, dy, dz).

EXAMPLES

Example 1. Replace a selection using a ray

mged> joint2 arm.j selection replace my_sel 0 0 0 0 0 1

Shoots a ray from the origin (0, 0, 0) along the positive Z-axis (0, 0, 1) towards the joint primitive arm.j. The closest valid selection is stored as my_sel.

Example 2. Translate an existing selection

mged> joint2 arm.j selection translate my_sel 5 0 0

Translates the previously stored selection my_sel on arm.j by 5 units along the X-axis.
