LIST(nged)

NAME

list, l - list the attributes and parameters of database objects

On this page

SYNOPSIS

list [-r] [-t] [-v] object(s)
l [-r] [-t] [-v] object(s)

DESCRIPTION

The list command (also available as l) reports the attributes and parameters of one or more database objects. For primitive shapes, the geometric parameters are displayed in the current working units. For combinations, the Boolean tree of members is shown.

If a path (containing /) is given, the parameters of the primitive at the end of the path are displayed with the accumulated transformation matrices along the path applied — equivalent to the output of listeval.

Options

-r

Recursively evaluate paths. Each named object is resolved through the hierarchy and the parameters of the primitives at the leaves are displayed with all transformations applied. Equivalent to calling listeval for each object.

-t

Terse mode. Suppresses verbose parameter output. When combined with -r, produces a compact listing of evaluated paths without parameter detail.

-v

Extra verbose mode. Increases the detail of the output (may be specified multiple times).

EXAMPLES

Example 1. List the parameters of a primitive

mged> l sph.s

Displays the sphere’s center, radius, and other geometric parameters in the current working units.

Example 2. List the Boolean tree of a combination

mged> list hull.c

Shows the combination tree for hull.c, listing all members and their Boolean operators.

Example 3. List evaluated parameters via a path

mged> l vehicle.c/hull.r/hull.s

Displays the parameters of hull.s with the cumulative transformation matrices from vehicle.c through hull.r applied.

Example 4. List recursively with all transformations

mged> l -r assembly.c

Recursively evaluates all primitives under assembly.c and displays their parameters with all transformations applied.

Example 5. Terse recursive listing

mged> list -r -t vehicle.c

Lists all evaluated paths under vehicle.c in compact form without detailed parameter output.
