LOD(nged)
NAME
lod - configure Level of Detail (LOD) drawing
On this page
SYNOPSIS
DESCRIPTION
The lod command configures the Level of Detail (LoD) drawing behavior for the current view. When LoD drawing is enabled, BRL-CAD adapts the rendering complexity of wireframe geometry based on view conditions, improving performance for complex models.
When called with no arguments, lod prints the current LoD configuration, including:
-
Whether adaptive LoD drawing is currently enabled or disabled.
-
The current point scale factor.
-
The current curve scale factor.
-
The current BoT face threshold (the number of faces at which a BoT switches to simplified display).
Subcommands
-
on : Enable adaptive LoD drawing.
-
off : Disable adaptive LoD drawing.
-
enabled : Print
1if LoD is currently enabled,0if disabled. Suitable for scripting. -
scale points [factor] : If
factoris given, sets the point density scale. If omitted, prints the current point scale value. -
scale curves [factor] : If
factoris given, sets the curve complexity scale. If omitted, prints the current curve scale value.
EXAMPLES
mged> lod
LoD drawing: enabled Point scale: 1.000000 Curve scale: 1.000000 BoT face threshold: 32768
Prints the current LoD configuration.
mged> lod on mged> lod scale curves 0.5
Enables LoD drawing and halves the curve complexity scale, reducing the number of line segments used to approximate curves.
mged> lod enabled
Returns 1 if LoD is enabled, 0 if disabled. Useful in scripts or Tcl procedures.
