MAT_AE(nged)
NAME
mat_ae - compute a rotation matrix from azimuth and elevation angles
On this page
SYNOPSIS
DESCRIPTION
The mat_ae command computes a 4x4 rotation matrix from an azimuth and elevation angle pair (both in degrees). The result is returned as a 16-element space-separated matrix string, encoded by bn_encode_mat. It is the GED wrapper for bn_mat_ae.
Arguments:
-
azimuth : The azimuth angle in degrees (rotation around the Z-axis).
-
elevation : The elevation angle in degrees (rotation above/below the XY plane).
EXAMPLES
Example 1. Generate a rotation matrix from azimuth and elevation
mged> mat_ae 35 20
Returns the 4x4 rotation matrix corresponding to azimuth 35° and elevation 20° as a 16-element string.
