move_arb_edge [-r] arb edge "x y z"
MOVE_ARB_EDGE(nged)
NAME
move_arb_edge - move an arb's edge through pt
On this page
SYNOPSIS
DESCRIPTION
The move_arb_edge command moves a specified edge of an ARB (Arbitrary Rectangular Box) solid by repositioning it so that one of its defining vertices passes through the given point. The point is specified as a quoted, space-separated "x y z" triple in local units.
The arb argument may be a full database path (e.g. comb/sub/arb.s); the object at the end of the path is used and the path’s transformation matrix is applied.
The command supports all ARB subtypes. Edge indices are 1-based and the valid range depends on the ARB type:
| ARB type | Valid edge indices |
|---|---|
ARB4 |
1–5 |
ARB5 |
1–9 |
ARB6 |
1–10 |
ARB7 |
1–12 |
ARB8 |
1–12 |
Options
-
-r : Relative mode. Treats the given point as an offset from the current position of the edge’s first vertex, rather than as an absolute model-space coordinate. The offset is added to the existing vertex position before the move is performed.
EXAMPLES
mged> move_arb_edge arb8.s 5 "10 20 30"
Moves edge 5 of arb8.s so that its first vertex passes through model point (10, 20, 30) in local units.
mged> move_arb_edge -r arb8.s 5 "0 0 10"
Shifts edge 5 of arb8.s upward by 10 local units along Z, relative to its current position.
