PRINT(nged)

NAME

print - print a summary of the current view parameters

On this page

SYNOPSIS

print

DESCRIPTION

The print command displays a formatted summary of five core view parameters for the current view.

The intended usage is with no arguments. Internally, the same argument list is forwarded unmodified to each of the five underlying view parameter functions (ae, viewdir, center, eye, and size) in sequence. With no arguments, each function returns its current value, and the results are assembled into the combined output. If arguments are provided, each sub-function will interpret them independently — which can produce inconsistent results, since each command has a different argument syntax: for example, ae expects azimuth and elevation, size expects a single scalar, and eye expects three coordinates. Passing any argument set that satisfies one function’s setter syntax may silently modify that view parameter while causing the others to report errors.

The output format is:

    ae: <azimuth> <elevation>
    dir: <<dx> <dy> <dz>>
    center: (<cx> <cy> <cz>)
    eye: (<ex> <ey> <ez>)
    size: <view_size>

Where:

  • ae — the current azimuth and elevation angles (in degrees).

  • dir — the view direction vector.

  • center — the model-space coordinates of the view center.

  • eye — the model-space coordinates of the eye point.

  • size — the current view size in local units.

To inspect or set individual parameters independently, use the dedicated commands: ae, center, eye, size, and viewdir.

EXAMPLES

Example 1. Print current view parameters

mged> print

    ae: 35 25
    dir: <-0.573576 -0.462910 0.675590>
    center: (0 0 0)
    eye: (305.267 246.784 359.713)
    size: 649.519

Displays the azimuth/elevation, view direction vector, center point, eye position, and view size for the current view.
