REDRAW(nged)
NAME
redraw - refresh the display geometry for currently displayed objects
On this page
SYNOPSIS
DESCRIPTION
The redraw command regenerates the view geometry for objects that are already in the display list, without re-adding or re-evaluating them from scratch. This is useful after geometry has been modified in the database and the display needs to be refreshed to show the updated shape.
-
No arguments: Redraws all objects currently in the display list. Every displayed path has its visual representation regenerated.
-
One or more paths: Redraws only the specified paths. Each path must already be displayed (i.e. added via
drawore); if a path is valid but not currently displayed, an error is returned. The path matching uses prefix matching — if a display list entry begins with or is a prefix of the specified path, it is redrawn.
The redraw command does not change what is displayed (no objects are added or removed), does not accept drawing options (such as color or shading mode), and does not trigger an autoview. It only regenerates the plot vectors for objects already in the scene using their current database state.
To add a new object to the display, use draw or e. To force an update with different display options, use draw again (which first erases then re-draws the object).
EXAMPLES
mged> redraw
Regenerates the display for all objects currently shown in the view. Useful after batch database edits to refresh all visible geometry at once.
mged> redraw component/part.s
Redraws only component/part.s, which must already be displayed. If the object’s geometry was modified since it was last drawn, the view is updated to reflect the changes.
mged> redraw body.s wing.s engine.s
Refreshes the display for three separately named objects simultaneously.
