TABLES(nged)

NAME

tables - region/solid summary table commands (see idents, regions, solids)

On this page

SYNOPSIS

idents file object(s)
regions file object(s)
solids file object(s)

DESCRIPTION

The tables command is the shared implementation entry point for three region and solid summary commands: idents, regions, and solids. All three commands are registered as separate names and share the same underlying ged_tables_core function; the specific command name (argv[0]) determines which level of output detail is produced.

Invoking tables directly by name is not valid — it falls through to an error: tables: input error. Use one of the three named commands instead:

Command Description

idents

Writes a region identity table: region count, ident number, air code, material code, LOS, and path. The output is sorted by region ID and written twice (encounter order then sorted). See idents(nged).

regions

Writes a region and Boolean member table: same region fields as idents, plus the Boolean formula showing each member primitive by name and operator. See regions(nged).

solids

Writes a full primitive parameter table: same as regions, plus the evaluated geometric parameters of each primitive with accumulated transformation matrices applied. See solids(nged).

All three commands write their output to a file (not to standard output). The file is overwritten if it already exists. A header block is written containing the database filename, username, database title, model units, and the list of input objects.
